How do you feel behind the wheel?

Drivers can have their well-being checked while filling their tanks at gas stations in several Russian cities. Gas-filling stations have transformed into Safety Forecast campaign venues. Drivers are checked for four factors: level of fatigue, mood, reaction rate/response time and blood pressure. Promoters carry out their actions in the form of a game and evaluate drivers’ tiredness, unwellness and aggressiveness.

Drivers in most of cities already engaged in campaign have undergone the unusual test that, on the one hand, helps to determine the readiness to continue on one’s way, and on the other hand – gives a chance to catch a break and cheer up. Those who underwent the test for all four factors received useful gifts: car scents, tumblers, driver's license jackets and vests with reflective elements. Those who were in a hurry and did not have time for all four stages, received gifts nonetheless, but according to the number of factors tested.

Such “pit stops” received only positive feedback: drivers left the gas stations high spirited and, most importantly, informed on the influence of their well-being on road safety.

Denis Korolev, head of a gas station network in Tyumen, shared his opinion on the project: “Given the unpredictable Siberian weather conditions, it is necessary for our drivers to remain alert and agile on the road. Safety Forecast campaign events present a great opportunity to remind residents of Tyumen of rules of the road in order to uphold safety not only when it comes to themselves, but in regard to all road users.”
