Caravan "Cresland Treasures" Arrives to the Northern Capital

19 November 2011

"Cresland Treasures" caravan arrived to St. Petersburg on November 19, right on the eve of the International Day of Commemoration of the Motor Vehicle Accident Casualties.

Hyundai bus with simulator, two giant promotional trucks and the principle characters of the dreamland - Bunny, Leo and Robotop - made it to the "Raduga" shopping mall.

It was in this mall that the "Cresland Treasures" action took place.

All visitors to the "Raduga" shopping mall and the participants of the quest learned about the safe means of transporting young passengers in cars; the audience was explained that children feel comfortable, and - most importantly - are safe when they ride in cars sitting in the seats.

On November 19 the residents of the northern capital and visitors to the shopping center "Raduga" had a chance to visit Cresland - the land of knowledge, adventure, gifts and surprises.

The "Cresland Treasures" activity is one of the stages of the All-Russian large-scale campaign "Car Seat to Every Child".

The event is aimed at protecting the rights of young passengers, at mitigating risk to life for young traffic participants and at reducing the number of children who were hurt in motor vehicle accidents.

The action was initiated by the Russian Interior Ministry Traffic Police with support of the Russian Union of Car Insurers (RUCI) and NGO "Risk Free Road Traffic».

The main idea of the social campaign «Car Seat - to Each Child!» deals with educating and persuading parents to transport children in cars only in child seats.

Car seat is the only element of passive safety designed for young passengers; in the most crucial moment this last line of defense will protect the child life and will help avoid grave or life-threatening injuries.

This is the conclusion to which all participants of an exciting educational quest "Cresland Treasures" came.

The road across the Cresland is difficult and risky.

The teams were composed of parents and children, and children were always the team leaders to bring people under command to the finish.

The teams had to overcome difficult stages to pass risky turns behind which they were faced with tricky questions, elaborate contests and tests.

In the end everyone got a gift and gained a vital knowledge.

Loving a child means thinking about the safety standard. Buying an apple of your eye a car seat instead of a huge number of beautiful toys is a wise decision.

None of the toys is capable of protecting the child from the accident implication as good as a car seat.

Inside Hyundai bus-simulator anyone could experience what happens inside a car during accident.

Only the passengers fastened with seat belts could survive and got by without serious injuries inside this unique training bus.

Everybody was leaving the bus with the thought that from that moment on driving without wearing seat belts was out of question.

- Parents definitely underestimate the importance of keeping high safety standards for their children when they travel together in the car, - said Tatiana Zybina, the head of the propaganda department of traffic police in St. Petersburg. - Out of total number of casualties 80% are young passengers in the Leningrad region.

Since the beginning of the year not a single child was killed in St. Petersburg and in the Leningrad region who was restrained in car seat at the time of the accident.

This confirms the concept that car seats are effective and they do protect little passengers.

Therefore, the events like the "Cresland Treasures" campaign raise awareness on this issue persuading parents to purchase and use child car seats".
